24 Days Of Salem Christmas – Holiday Shopping

Where Will You Shop On 24 Days Of Christmas?

By Kris Kringle

Beginning on Sunday, 1 December we will begin a 24 day series featuring local business that we think deserve your attention as you shop for gifts. Some days will feature a single business. others may feature two or three. After all, there are lots of spots to shop in Salem, whether you know it or not.

The days of big department stores in downtown Salem are gone. Highland Avenue feature a couple of them. But we will not be focusing on them. Our focus will be on the smaller, locally owned an operated shops. Some  are newer to the scene, and  some have been here long enough to become small staples holding together the fabric our our downtown shopping world.

So. Get up from the couch. Step away from the desk top. Push away the lap top. Let the big box stores and Amazon wait for a bit while you explore and maybe reacquaint yourself with the Salem retail scene. There’s more, much more there than many people realize.

Essex Street features shops that begin at the intersection of North and Summer Streets, run down the pedestrian mall, into the Witch City Mall, and right to Hawthorne Boulevard. Front Street is a small shopping destination all by itself. Washington Street, New Derby Street, and Derby Street a feature a few small shops that would love to see you. Boston Street and Canal Street also have a couple of spots. There are some shops off of many of the streets we just mentioned.

Pickering Wharf is another spot that features a plethora of small speciality shops that are sure to have something that catches your eye.

There are other spots throughout town that are waiting and in need of your local patronage. If you think that we’re missing any as we go along over the days leading up to Christmas just let us know and we’ll try to shine a little light on them.

Merry Christmas or Season Greetings to all, no matter your or your ancestors language of origin or your religious beliefs.

Salem is a city of imigrants and diversity and that should be celebrated. Happy Hannukah. ¡Feliz navidad. Joyeux noël. Καλά Χριστούγεννα. Wesołych Świąt. Buon natale. Nollaig Shona. 聖誕節快樂. メリークリスマス Maligayang pasko. Giáng sinh vui vẻ. मेरी क्रिसमस. Frohe weihnachten. Gëzuar Krishtlindjet. İyi noeller. Veselé Vánoce.
